Top 10 Most Asked UVDTF Sticker Questions

Last updated: July 18, 2026

Here are answers to the 10 questions we get asked most about UVDTF stickers. If you are an Australian small business exploring branding or product customisation, this covers what you need to know before you order.

1. What is a UVDTF sticker?

UVDTF stands for Ultraviolet Direct to Film. A design is printed onto a special film using UV-curable ink, then an adhesive layer is added and cured with UV light. The result is a sticker that peels off its backing and presses straight onto a hard surface, with a slightly raised, glossy finish. For a deeper look at how they are made, see our full guide: What is a UV DTF sticker?

2. What surfaces can UVDTF stickers be applied to?

UVDTF stickers work on glass, metal, wood, plastic, ceramic, leather and paper. They are popular for tumblers, candle jars, phone cases, skincare bottles, keychains, gift boxes and packaging. They are not suited to fabric or surfaces that stretch or flex.

3. How durable are UVDTF stickers?

UVDTF stickers are colour-fast and resistant to chipping, fading and everyday weather. They are water-resistant, so light splashes and rain are fine, but they are not built for dishwashers, microwaves or prolonged soaking. Handwashing the finished product will keep them looking sharp for longer.

4. How do I apply a UVDTF sticker?

Clean the surface first so the adhesive can bond properly. Place the sticker white side up and press down firmly with your hand or a squeegee. Make a small tear at one corner and slowly peel back the clear carrier sheet, leaving the design behind on the surface.

5. What is a UVDTF gang sheet?

A gang sheet is one large sheet holding multiple designs, printed and cut in a single run. It is the most cost-effective way to order UVDTF stickers in bulk. Our commercial UVDTF printer produces gang sheets up to 58cm wide and up to 100 metres long.

6. Is there a minimum order for UVDTF stickers?

No. Pure Pack has no minimum order and no setup or artwork fees on UVDTF stickers. You can order a single design or a full gang sheet, whichever suits your business.

7. How fast is production and shipping?

Production takes 1 to 2 business days once your artwork is ready to print. Orders ship from our workshop in Brisbane via Australia Post, with standard shipping taking 2 to 8 business days and express shipping 1 to 3 business days. Shipping is free on orders over $499.

8. What file format do I need for my artwork?

Most file types are accepted, but a print-ready file at 300 DPI or higher gives the best result. If you need a transparent background, mention this in the order notes and we will adjust it. If your file is low resolution, we will contact you before printing.

9. How is a UVDTF sticker different from a regular vinyl sticker?

Vinyl stickers are usually cut from solid-coloured vinyl or printed then covered with transfer tape. UVDTF stickers are printed directly with UV-cured ink, which gives sharper detail, a slightly raised texture, and better resistance to fading and scratching. For a full breakdown, see our guide on UVDTF vs vinyl stickers.

10. Should I choose UVDTF or DTF for my product?

UVDTF is for hard surfaces like glass, metal and ceramic. DTF heat transfers are for fabric like t-shirts and hoodies, applied with a heat press. Many businesses use both to cover their full product range. See our full comparison in UVDTF vs DTF: which one should you choose.
